The Central Regional Chairman of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu stated that it was not the “Three Unions” (GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT) that signed the contract with the suppliers (KA Technologies Ghana) of the TM1 Laptop.
Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu made this revelation when he granted an interview to Live FM Morning Show on Wednesday, 8th September, 2021.

The TM1 Laptop Contract
Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu during the interview on the Central Regional-based Radio Station (Live FM 107.5), stated emphatically that the procurement of the TM1 Laptop’s contract was not signed by the Teacher Unions.
“After a careful research into this 1T1L initiative, I can say with authority that it was not the ‘Three Teacher Unions’ that signed the contract. The institution that signed the contract with the supplier (KA Technologies Ghana) was the Ministry of Education (MoE) and in the contract, MoE is the ‘purchaser‘.” Dr. Isaac Owusu revealed this during the interview.
The Actual Price of TM1 Laptop
He also mentioned that the cost of the Laptop given by the Ghana Education Service was different from the one stated in the contract.
“One cost, one unit cost of the item within the contract, is Ghc1,550.00.” Dr. Isaac Owusu stated.
He continued to state that, the Ministry of Education signed the contract with the Supplier. The Ministry will then deliver them to Ghana Education Service for the Laptops to be properly distributed to teachers. Hence, none of the Teacher Unions signed any contract with ‘the Supplier’ (KA Technologies Ghana)
Dr. Isaac Owusu also stated that, according to his research, since the unit cost of one TM1 Laptop in the contract, was Ghc1,550.00, he would be surprised if the price is later purported to be Ghc1,831.47.
He later added that if any teacher in his Region is deducted the thirty percent amount(Ghc549.44) from the Ghc1,831.47, he would challenge such authority since the contract stated that the initial amount was Ghc1,550.00. Thirty percent of Ghc1,550.00 will be Ghc465.00.
