The Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwa, witnessed the distribution of the TM1 Laptops to teachers at O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra on Monday, 13th December, 2021.
The distribution of the TM1 Laptops made a stop at the O’reily SHS where teachers were scheduled to receive them.
In presenting the devices, the Director General discounted the perception that the TM1 Laptops are of poor quality simply because they were not coming from any of the known brands of computers.
On the issue of the Laptop as being expensive, the DG said “even the simplest smartphone does not cost less than GHc 500.00″ and that if a teacher is parting away with such an amount to own a Laptop, that cannot be described as shortchanging the teacher.”
The Deputy Director General in charge of Quality & Access, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, used the opportunity to educate the teachers on the use of the Laptop and its content.
He added that the Laptops were preloaded with teaching resources and aids, including the Curriculum.
Dr. Tandoh again disclosed that all teachers would soon be given dedicated email accounts for the purposes of communication between the Service and teachers to avoid the nuisance of fake documents being splashed on social media.
The teachers who received the Laptops were said to have expressed their satisfaction for the device, that it will help them teach effectively and spare them the stress of writing lesson notes in heavy note books.
The distributions at the Senior High School level is expected to end on the 17th of December 2021.
