You work as a public official and you’ve been wondering if you may use the Ghana Card (ECOWAS card) as a standard to change someone’s date of birth in Ghana.
What if I told you that as a public officer, you can amend your date of birth using the Ghana Card?
In May 2024, the Public Services Commission‘s board convened for the first assembly meeting, attended by stakeholders.
The board decided to approve New Standards for the Date of Birth Correction for Ghanaian Public Offices.
As per government policy, the Ghana Card (ECOWAS card) was approved as a document to rectify the date of birth, and Prof. Victor K. Agyeman served as the chairperson.

THE GOAL OF THE NEW CONDITIONS
The Ghana Card is presently among the most potent identification cards in West Africa. It is also known as the ECOWAS Card, and was introduced to Ghanaians in 2020 by President Akuffo Addo’s administration.

Once the Ghana Card is accepted by the organization, making adjustments will be safe and convenient.
REQUIREMENTS NEEDED FOR THE PROCESS
The Commission determined that, by July 1st, 2024, any servant (public servant) seeking correction of the date of birth shall produce the ECOWAS Card (Ghana Card) together with any two (2) of the seven (7) documents listed below:
a. SSNIT Card
b. Birth Certificate ( issued after birth within 10 years)
c. Personal Records forms
d. Pension Scheme Record ( CAP 30 record)
e. Baptism Certificate ( at most 10 years after birth)
f. Passport within 25 years after birth )
g. An educational certificate with date of birth
The Board further urged all organizational leaders to bring the policies and procedures to the attention of every employee so that they can readily obtain the necessary modifications.
But it should be noted (NB ) that : any 2 of (a-g ) can be submitted
