The National Service Scheme (NSS) secures government approval for upward adjustment of monthly allowances for National Service Personnel.
The National Service Scheme, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Employment all participated in the clearance process, which was announced in a letter dated July 18, 2021, and signed by the deputy minister of finance, Hon. Abena Osei-Ase (MP).

The new Upward Allowance to take Effect from January
The Controller and Accountant General Department were told in the letter to put the new level of the monthly allowances into effect. As a result, beginning in January 2021, all National Service Personnel who are currently on active duty are entitled to and will be paid in accordance with arrears for the face value of the salary adjustment.
The previous allowance amounted to Ghc559.04 and has now been increased to Ghc715.57.
All National Service Personnel are urged by the management of the Scheme to practice patience while the required administrative procedures are carried out to make sure that all arrears are properly paid.

The National Service Personnel Association extended their appreciation to the management of the scheme.
They also showed appreciation to all personnel who stood by the association on this torrid journey which finally yielded a positive result.
