Parents of students of Aburi Girls’ Senior High School are not happy due to the interdiction of the Headmistress, Alice Prempeh-Fordjour by the Ghaha Education Service.
According to reports, the interdicted headmistress had charged unapproved fees from parents which include teacher motivation fees from final year students and selling school uniforms to all final year students and Wednesday wear for all students.
However, some parents said to 3news.com in an interview that the decision to pay those fees was solely taken by the Parent Association (PA) and thus, the headmistress cannot be held accountable for it.
The parents also added that a related move was halted the previous year after some unidentified parents complained about the issue to the GES.
Consequently, the recent decision, to have each final year student pay GH¢300 to encourage teachers for six (6) months, was made by parents as their sole responsibility.
However, the issued was again brought to the notice of GES which prompted their decision to interdict the headmistress for further investigations.
“We decided to pay that money because of the disruptions in the school’s timetable to enable the teachers give extra attention to our wards,” a parent while speaking to 3news.com
Mrs. Prempeh-Fordjour’s interdiction have also made the Old Girls Association of the school upset because she has been very helpful in planning the impending 75th Anniversary celebrations in November.
Parents and guardians have already started executing process to get Mr. Prempeh-Fordjour restored as the Headmistress because they deem the decision by GES a hash one.
