However, WAEC Council was immensely concerned over the circulation of the ongoing WASSCE exams papers. The English Language and Elective Maths papers which were written on 9th and 13th September respectively also suffered the same fate.
Circulation of WASSCE Examination Papers
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) stated that after careful investigation into the Elective Maths and English Language papers, the council found out that extracts of the parts of questions for Elective Maths found their way onto social media platforms.
The same also happened to the Section ‘A’ of English Language. Although the circulation was not extensive, WAEC will still put in place measures and interventions to guarantee credibility of the results.
Culprits to be Sanctioned
WAEC is determined to sanction and if possible, prosecute Operators of Rogue Websites that operates to leak the WASSCE examination papers.
“The activities of social media cartels, that is, rogue websites, WhatsApp/Telegram groups are in full force with several versions of the questions being circulated on social media platforms. Some of such groups are Jerusalema, Eminent Link, Mr. Robert, Success Room, Mr. IUPAC, Brotherhood and WAE. Secret Helper.” WAEC stated
WAEC also added that, ” With the passing of the Cyber Security Act, 2020 (Act 1036), the prosecution of operatives of these fraudulent grip would be facilitated. We would want to urge parents, religious leaders and well meaning people in society to join us in advising our wards to stay away from these WhatsApp groups and focus on their books.”
